Mr. T's Painthouse Vienna

The way we perceive, desire, modify and manipulate ourselves and others is nowadays distorted through consumer-level digital processes and reconfigurations. We are aware that our bodily self image as well as those of all other physical representations around us are lies, sometimes well-intentioned and playful, sometimes harmful. My photographic works aim at reinvigorating discussion about our uneasy truce between the desire for beauty and the price we pay for remodeling ourselves in our own image. From prenatal ultrasound imaging to Playboy magazine, no body escapes being rasterized and re-viewed. The smallest building block of the human body is no longer the atom, nor the molecule nor the cell but the pixel.

Whenever a taboo is broken

something good happens, something vitalizing. Taboos after all are only hangovers, the product of diseased minds, you might say, of fearsome people who hadn’t the courage to live and who under the guise of morality and religion have imposed these things upon us. - Henry Miller
