About Me
Who‘s Mr.T? A short biography.The artist formerly known as Thomas Pramendorfer was born in January 1974 almost nine months after conception in Linz, Upper Austria. Educated at the Commercial Academy Linz and the University of Vienna but mostly through reading books. As of today (Feb 01 2010) he is also the proud owner of a Kindle. At least until the iPad arrives.
Tom attended Film School in NYC in 1996 and has since worked as a software pirate, graphic designer, artist, photographer , webdesigner, gallery owner, documentary filmmaker, screenwriter, director & reluctant actor.
Mr. T is currently working on his first major-studio feature film screenplay „The Movie“ (working title). He is also the creator and co-writer of the upcoming TV series „Second Skin“.
Further credits include the game shows "Def.Dum.Blind." and "The Big Picture" for the television production company Endemol. Mr. T also teaches filmmaking workshops for aspiring writers, directors and other optimists interested in the art moviemaking.
And last but not least the obligatory pseudo-philosophical background on my photographic oeuvre for those who absolutely have to know what it all means:
The way we perceive, desire, modify and manipulate ourselves and others is nowadays distorted through consumer-level digital processes and reconfigurations. We are aware that our bodily self image as well as those of all other physical representations around us are lies, sometimes well-intentioned and playful, sometimes harmful. My photographic works aim at reinvigorating discussion about our uneasy truce between the desire for beauty and the price we pay for remodeling ourselves in our own image. From prenatal ultrasound imaging to Playboy magazine, no body escapes being rasterized and re-viewed. The smallest building block of the human body is no longer the atom, nor the molecule nor the cell but the pixel.
